It's funny you should use those two examples: the platypus is a monotreme.

Is it a wave or a particle or an illusion?
Detecting a "graviton" particle -- if it exists -- will supposedly require a device massing 10x more than the planet earth.*
*The joke is actually that a high school kid will probably find gravitons with $5 worth of electronics for his science fair project.

If I recall correctly, Hyena also have a cloaca. It has never been established that their hysterical laughing is as a result of this anatomy.
