Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - AAA - 10-08-2009 Let's see a consumer report 'best fix' category! ![]() http://jalopnik.com/5377355/your-new-lexus-floor-mats-will-look-like-crap/gallery/ ![]() Re: Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - cbelt3 - 10-08-2009 Nice 'Luxury Car' repair. Looks more like a Chevy quality job.... something that can be done by a hillbilly with a 3rd grade education. However, there IS a critical component missing. No Duct Tape ? Re: Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - evilrobot - 10-08-2009 just using a black one would make a world of difference in the interim. Re: Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - GGD - 10-08-2009 From reading the comments on that page and the instructions to dealers, this appears to be a temporary solution for cars in stock (probably to reduce liability risk). It is not the actual recall fix which hasn't been released yet. My hope is that for the recall they redesign the peg that's in the floor with some sort of locking mechanism that wraps around the edge of the floor mat and still allows for the mats to be removed for cleaning. For the temporary fix they probably should have just removed the floor mats, they'll probably need to replace them when the permanent fix comes out since they punched holes in them. At least this is what I'm hoping for, there is no way I'm going to have them punch holes in my floor mats and attach zip ties. I would at least use the existing hole in the mat if I were to do it myself. Re: Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - olnacl - 10-08-2009 Yeah, but are they going to address the issue that the driver couldn't turn off the engine? Re: Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - AAA - 10-08-2009 was that a push-button start(er)? Re: Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - Racer X - 10-08-2009 you know, Ford knew how to hold down floormats a decade ago..... Just saying. Re: Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - AAA - 10-08-2009 what is/was Ford's solution? Re: Toyota recall : Plastic zip-strip. - mikebw - 10-08-2009 Just wait until someone gets their shoe stuck and falls on their face trying to get out of the car. No way those suckers will slide under your pedals. You just need to do it right THE FIRST TIME. |
