Choosing slots in MDD? - prymsnap - 10-09-2009 I plan on re-seating the existing memory in a MDD to see if I can solve some performance issues (cursor freezes and crashes). There are four slots available, and the tower has two 1 gig sticks. Should I also try putting the two sticks in the unused slots instead of the ones they're currently in? Or do the slots need to be occupied in a particular order? Thanks. Re: Choosing slots in MDD? - RAMd®d - 10-09-2009 They don't need to be filled in any order. Move one stick at a time. Try all variations such as using one stick at a time in all slots, then using the other stick by itself. Time consuming but really necessary. Are you using the Apple Hardware Test on the MDD Install CD? Re: Choosing slots in MDD? - prymsnap - 10-09-2009 I ran the Hardware Test probably a year ago, but should do it again before embarking on this project. thanks for reminding me. Please excuse this dumb question, but does the Hardware Test look at installed memory too? Re: Choosing slots in MDD? - Lew Zealand - 10-09-2009 The AHT has a memory test section. If you still have OS 9 on the MDD, you could also run NewerTech's GaugePro. OWC used to have a link for it on their site.
