Delta faucets on sales - space-time - 10-10-2009

there is a HUGE sales at greatindoors (or something like that). DELTA faucets that are supposedly selling for $220 are now on sale for $80 and similar deals. I cannot get the page to load, the servers must be overloaded.

check slickdelas for details and more info

Wife would like new faucets in bathrooms, I think they're just fine, but if I can get some for cheap and make her happy, why not?

you know what her complaint is? that there are separate handles for HOT and COLD water, so she needs both hands to adjust the right temperature when she bathes the baby. She would rather have one with a single handle so she could adjust the flow and temp with one hand.

And I agree with her 100%. I have nothing but single handle Delta faucets in my house, including the tub and the showers, which also have the gizmo that keeps the water temp from changing dramatically if somebody flushes a toilet or the washer or dishwasher starts drawing a lot of hot water while the shower is being used. The newest faucets are about 10 years old, and the rest are about 15. All of them still work flawlessly, although I'm getting tired of looking at a couple of them. Hmmmm. On sale, you say? Smile

They're called pressure balance faucets. I did a super quick Google search, and this Delta unit showed up at Amazon. I have one for the combination tub/shower and there's one for showers only. Since mine are about 15 years old, they look a little different than the one in the link but they work the same.

I generally prefer separate handles, but my bathtub has a Grohe single faucet kind of like this:

Without the numbers though-- but I like it because I can note the position for an ideal temparature and it;s the same every time, e.g. the "o" in cold is ideal for aquarium filling.

Re: Delta faucets on sales - davester - 10-10-2009

It's not quite so simple. There are both pressure-balance and temperature-balance controls. The pressure-balance will save you from sudden drops or increases in temperature due to somebody turning on a hose or washing machine but the temperature-balance control is even better since it keeps the temperature right where you set it. We have one of these in our shower and it makes the shower so much more pleasurable...no fiddling with the faucet...just set and forget. It sounds like Black has one of the latter (and we have the exact same faucet only with a different handle style.

Also note that most plumbing codes now require pressure-balance valves at a minimum.
