Circuit City / CompUSA - DavidS - 10-10-2009

I'm considering buying an LCD TV from CC/CompUSA. It is a good deal, but I'm concerned about the service since they are now owned by TigerDirect. My understanding is that TD bought the names and logos of these retailers but they run everything the same as TD.

Has anyone bought anything from either of them recently? Would you buy from them again? My previous only purchase from TD was last year for an APC home theater power conditioner. No problems, but I've heard real horror stories about lack of customer service.

I bought a refurbished Acer Aspire from CircuitCity.com and I had no problems. Shipping was only $1.99 and the $219 price was the best I found on the Aspire model I bought.

Check out Crutchfield.com. I bought my 60 Sony from them a few years ago. They were price competitive, threw in an expensive Sony stand, gave 3 day free shipping, charged no tax, and provided interest free Sony financing. I don't know if they are that competitive now, but you might give them a look.
