the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - decay - 10-21-2009 original price $799 http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB464LL/A (out of stock) 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2GB memory 320GB hard drive 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256MB memory i still think the new model at $599 is a better value overall. smaller hard drive, but faster processors. Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - jdc - 10-21-2009 but $100 more... well, maybe $40 more after tax for me $499 + $45 tax = $545 or new 2.26 at Amazon for $580, no tax Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - decay - 10-21-2009 How about this 24in refurbished iMac? FOR $1099! http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB418LL/A 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 24-inch glossy widescreen display 4GB memory 640GB hard drive 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256MB memory Built-in iSight camera (yeah, i KNOW it has shared video memory) Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - DRR - 10-21-2009 Do those previous gen iMacs use desktop processors, or mobile processors? Any chance you could drop a Core 2 Quad into one of those? Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - jdc - 10-21-2009 DRR wrote: no brain transplants... Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - C(-)ris - 10-21-2009 jdc wrote: no brain transplants... Why not? If the Core 2 Quad is socket compatable with the Core 2 Duo you would be fine I think. The iMacs have socketed logic boards. Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - Lew Zealand - 10-21-2009 Quad cores require an adequate cooling system to work. Look at the TDP numbers for the quad processors vs. the dual core processors in the iMacs. If the quad numbers are higher (they are) then the iMac's cooling system probably will not be able to keep them from frying. OTOH, it's a good reason to keep some bacon nearby. Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - Black - 10-21-2009 That's starting to irritate me a little. They could have at least priced the previous upper model at $539 so I didn't have to feel bad about spending $499 for a 120 GB drive and 1 GB RAM . . . Betcha those are going to be crazy-hard to pin down. Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - finn - 10-21-2009 As I posted last week, I bought one of the 2G, 320 GB for $699 as a possible birthday present for my husband. I decided to keep for myself to replace my G5 iMac and he is getting a Plustek film scanner and some other items. I called Apple today to see about a price adjustment as I am within the 14 day period. They said that they have not received any new prices for the refurb minis. I mentioned that it had been on the refurb page this morning for $499. I was told to call back in a few days to see about the adjustment. I would return it and buy again but I opened it. Any suggestions to ensure I receive the credit? Re: the newest refurb Mac mini sweet spot @ $499 - RAMd®d - 10-21-2009 My only suggestion is to get names of everybody you talk to and refer only to the ones who say something to your benefit. |
