Dear Amazon - lipskidder - 10-23-2009 Please default the cursor to the search bar. That's all. Thanks. Re: Dear Amazon - Carm - 10-23-2009 That would make too much sense. Re: Dear Amazon - Doc - 10-23-2009 Dear lipskidder, Use this tip: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2009/04/jump-quickly-to-text-fields-in-firefox/ Then press the Tab key when their front page loads. OR Use this tip: http://lifehacker.com/129658/geek-to-live-fifteen-firefox-quick-searches Make a key word for Amazon's search field and you'll never have to see their front page again. Re: Dear Amazon - lipskidder - 10-23-2009 thanks, Doc! I have been needing to play around with something new anyways. Re: Dear Amazon - Doc - 10-23-2009 Oops! I owe you an apology. The first tip is no longer valid in Firefox on the Mac. Firefox now uses the Mac's default, which is to jump between various interface elements. You can still get to the search field with tabbing, it just takes a few more keypresses. BUT... The second tip is valid and honestly if you try the second tip you probably won't give a damn about the first tip being no good anymore. Re: Dear Amazon - Seacrest - 10-23-2009 Really? Every improvement in tech brings a new round of complaints. Buncha bitchy little girls, we all are. Re: Dear Amazon - RAMd®d - 10-23-2009 That's been a long standing annoyance with Amazon, and a few other sites as well. For me, this ranks right up there with sites that need your phone number and don't provide three boxes that automatically mover your cursor from left to right automatically as you populate each one with your area code, prefix, and number. Re: Dear Amazon - apocketfulofwry - 10-23-2009 I don't want the cursor to default to the search field for this reason: When I am viewing a page, I often want to scroll down a page at a time so, I instinctively hit the spacebar. If the cursor is in the search field, hitting the spacebar just types a space there and if I want to page down, I have to click outside the search field. Then, having typed a space in the search field, if I try to close that window, I get that annoying warning telling me I have entered text on the page and asking if I am sure I want to close it. Different strokes, I guess. |
