80GB iPod video (5th gen); worth selling on eBay for parts? - john-o - 11-29-2009

This is a client's iPod, and I tried putting a new HD in it, and it continues to fail. I'm guessing it could be almost anything, but the screen is definitely good! Would it be worth trying to sell for a few bucks on eBay? If so, any suggestions on what something like this might be worth? I was thinking of $25...

Thanks for your help!

In my opinion, yes. If the hard drive is the culprit, likely the motherboard and/or screen are still good. The motherboard and screen are the more rare parts to find, and I think you'd do fine trying to sell them.

You'd be surprised how much old, broken ipods sell for on ebay. Set your auction to start at .99, and it should do just fine. Make sure to charge shipping, though.

probably a bad mobo.

Thanks for the input...

Not sure if it's the mobo or some sort of bad ribbon cable/connection...

I'll try the method you suggested Clay, and let you know how it goes!
