I thought that this article was pretty interesting.

In October, Mac US retail desktop computer revenue share was 47.71, percent up from 33.44 percent a year earlier, according to NPD. It's a stunning number, given just how many Windows PC companies combined command so much more market share, while competing for the same revenue share.

beleaguered!

Wait... if Apple has 47% -- then how can this statement be true?

Don't make me read the article! As for Apple doing any kicking - after being kicked to death since 1987, when the color Mac ][ came out, I, for one, rather enjoy it.

According to that data, Windows laptops have 66% of the market share.

Aren't laptops the biggest part of the retail computer market?

Revenue share means they make 47% of the profit - not that they sell 47% of the units. That's why the number is so astonishing. They make almost half of the money in the US computer market with such small market share.

Just reread what I typed, and what I should have said is that Apple takes in 47% of the money spent on computers. Profit, obviously, has more to do with how the company is run internally than simply their gross numbers.

The headline is misleading.

Where does it say Apple is mocking and insulting computer companies that are in financial trouble? It looks to me like the only thing Apple is doing is selling computers that people want.

Where's the part where Apple is humiliating their competitors while they are down? All they're doing is selling computers. Same as competitors are doing.

Isn't that saying that, in the Apple market, 47.71% are Apple desktop models ( MacPro & iMacs); the remaining 52.29% of the Apple market are notebooks?
