Whatever this thing is.... it permits WMV playback via QT.

I use it to watch standalone WMVs, even though I have the old WM Player.
Works pretty well.
I have not been able to get it to play content embedded into web pages, not that I care, since I don't generally like that.

v2.02 got some negative press at VersionTracker ---- amazingly, because Orifice X wouldn't work!

Every time I got a .wmv in an email, Eudora would blow up the minute I opened the email.
I had to quit and restart Eudora. But Eudora would open to its previous state...which was with the email open....and it would blow up.
Ad nauseum.
I tossed Flip4Mac and never looked back.

Flip4Mac works great on .wmv pr0n clips. Don't really use it much for anything else.

Anybody sends me a wmv in email, I punch 'em right in the nose.
Through the computer screen even.
I also changed my mail prefs so that it would not try to run attachments.

It works, and plays back in my browser (Camino), BUT... screws up the display of the window it's in, and of all other windows. For standalone playing, it works great.

the WMP for Mac, though discontinued still works better than Flip4mac. For every file flip played correctly, 3 other times it cause every browser I had to crash.
As noted, when you simply use it to have QT player play WMV files, it seems to work fine. But as a browser plug in, well, it sucks....

I use it with Safari and have never had had a problem with it. I use it to listen to streamed MLB games which, sadly, are not available in Quicktime.

I use it and have had a few problems, so I keep WMP around. It's worked relatively well for me.
