which HDMI cable do I want/need? - space-time - 12-01-2009

I have a TV coming in 2 days, and a blu ray player eventually coming next week.

they have so many options, besides length (will probably get 6 feet), and color, what else do I need to look for? premium? professional? certified? high speed?

digital is just digital, right? as long as the bits go though, you don't really need gold plated connectors, impedance matching and all crap like that.

I bought some cheap ones to hook up my HD DVD player and Dish DVR and they seem to work fine. If the run is short, I don't think you would see much difference in quality.

1.3a is all I would look for.

I think gold plated connectors are desirable. The cables usually get more flexible/thinner/lighter as the number goes up, 22AWG to 28AWG. I would not go with 28AWG unless you want the thinnest and most flexible. You don't need silver plated conductors or in-wall rating.

OK, I will get this one

High Speed HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Cable 28AWG - 10ft w/Ferrite Cores (Gold Plated Connectors) - BLACK

Thanks!
