any way to trick an app that wants to see a G4 into booting on a G3? - Guitarman - 04-07-2006

I had heard of something that allows an app to do this.

Gman, there is an app that changes the machine id to a more "advanced" Mac, you are correct.
Name of it escapes me at the momement.

There is a string of code in iLife 06 that if copied to the drive can simply be removed before installing.

For the Pismo and iWeb, I simply booted from the Mini (using the Pismo TDM drive) and loaded iWeb onto the Pismo that way.

(iLife actually won't permit you to install it on anything other than the boot drive!)

That was easier for me than copying 6GB of data from a DVD (the entire installer) to get one program to work on the Pismo.

It works fine, by the way.

which App are you working on?
