pcAnywhere now available for Mac OS X (yawn?) - Silencio - 04-07-2006

Since I've been using Timbuktu, ARD, and VNC for so long, why should I care?

I guess I can see being a good thing for many enterprises, since pcAnywhere is pretty entrenched in the corporate IT world.

jdc,

I just installed bosco's screen share also. As you said, it is very simple to set up, but I noticed that it is using 30% of CPU according to Activity Monitor, even when it is not doing anything other than listening for incoming calls. I have a dual 2.7GHz.

I was wondering if you see the same CPU usage on your machine.

I was going to add it to my startup items, but I may only start it up when I need to use it based on the CPU usage.

Gilbert

yup, 30% -- wacky

no idea why -- im on a dual 2 with 4.5 gigs o ram

it works at about 1/2 speed -- but it was a lifesaver when connecting to my moms imac 500 miles away -- and since shes a computer neophyte -- this was even easy for her to setup

i used to have a good site on setting up VNC or Chicken of the Sea -- but i couldnt find the bookmark...

Hmm, I have never used Bosco Screen Share. Right now I'm mostly using CotVNC+osxVNC for most purposes: works well enough, and can't beat the price.
