... the shot, that is, not the virus...
I decided to take the plunge, especially when I heard that it takes about two weeks for you to build an immune response to the shot, and that'll put us right about when the students will be returning from break for next semester.
Also, I asked about whether it was late to be getting the shot, and was told that H1N1 is not following the typical flu patterns ... there've been peaks and valleys from April through this fall, and they expect that there'll be another wave of it come January/February...
Finally ... yes, they did tell me that even though I'm not strictly in one of the risk categories, they are actually now recommending that anyone spending significant amounts of time around college students (e.g., professors, staff, etc.) get the shot. FYI -- that was news to me.

You should also get vaccinated against herpes.

matt, uhhh, no. However, I *did* make sure to get immunized against both Hep and meningitis when I started working here. The current generation of students has to get these immunizations, my generation may or may not have gotten them.

Now just about anyone can get the H1N1 vaccination. I got mine last weekend. The only side effect is that my arm is still kind of sore.
20 years ago, I had the worst case of flu that I'd ever had in my life - I thought I was going to die. :drool:Every year since then I've had a flu shot and never had the flu since.
Coincidence? You decide.:dunno:
