There is a restaurant up the street from me that serves ice water that has cucumbers soaking in it. It is a very refreshing taste. On the other hand, a friend of mine no matter where we go asks for "water, no lemon" before he even knows how they serve it. Last night, I finally felt compelled to pull up the research that led to such a warning. As it turned out, there is more to the story: According to the research study, without a thorough cleaning, most restaurants use the same knife that has been cutting meat to cut lemons and/or used the same cutting board for both.
