Anyone have any experience with "pocket projectors?" - Black - 12-24-2009 Down newt . . . Looking into low-end (=cheap) projection options-- they seem to start at $350 with this: http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesProductDisplay?&storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&partNumber=827936&cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Shopping-_-Technology%253EDigital_Projectors-_-827936-MPRO120 Anyone have any experience with this, or something in a similar range they would recommend? Thx . . . Re: Anyone have any experience with "pocket projectors?" - Doc - 12-24-2009 'Been watching them with interest, but not jumping in yet. Engadget has blurbs on most of them: http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=pico+prjector&invocationType=wl-gadget You might get something out of this thread there: http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/26/ask-engadget-best-first-wave-pico-projector/ Re: Anyone have any experience with "pocket projectors?" - Buck - 12-24-2009 Been watching as well. When I see a lot more LED lumens and a low price, I will probably get one. Re: Anyone have any experience with "pocket projectors?" - Black - 12-24-2009 Cool links, thanks. This one seems to get good reviews on Amazon-- except from the people who hate it . . . http://www.amazon.com/Cinemin-Swivel-Multimedia-Pico-Projector/dp/B002AKKF12/ref=dp_return_1?ie=UTF8&n=172282&s=electronics I see that the connector it comes with plugs into the dock but I'm having a hard time seeing exactly what you'd need to get a laptop or something with component video jacks connected. Edit-- answers here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdpXBuomVh0&feature=related Re: Anyone have any experience with "pocket projectors?" - onthedownlow - 12-24-2009 I have had a PK10 since they came out nearly 3 years ago: http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-PK10-Pocket-Projector/dp/B000MX625M ...I don't think they still sell this one, as they have newer/better models, but I absolutely love it. It does work pretty good too even in brightly lit rooms! Of course, the less light the better, but even in a mildly lit room the picture is what one would desire. They are very handy and I've had fun 'on the spot' with it, as well as for business/presentations. I also purchased the battery pack for this model, so I could be almost completely self-sustained with just a laptop (or UMPC...OQO, Sony VAIO VGN-series). I would definitely recommend one (or smaller), as there are so many convenient uses for such a device paired with 'video-out' electronics. Re: Anyone have any experience with "pocket projectors?" - Black - 12-24-2009 $399, 50 lumens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WifADsAkjR4 Re: Anyone have any experience with "pocket projectors?" - lazydays - 12-24-2009 I had considered getting one for use when traveling. I could play a movie through my ipod to the projector instead of renting some overpriced movie through the hotel. I changed my mind when the Westin and Marriot started allowing ipod connections to their tv's so I just do that now. Re: Anyone have any experience with "pocket projectors?" - Ted King - 12-24-2009 I have no idea how good they are, but dealmac fairly routinely has links to fairly cheap pocket projectors: http://dealmac.com/search.html?search=pocket+projectors&x=0&y=0 |
