ATM receipts from the gas stations - kap - 01-16-2010

Should they be printed out and kept?

no

My response is why use a gas station ATM? All ATMs
inside gas stations around here have astronomical fees.

I thought he was asking about the receipt from the gas pump. I used to keep those just to track of how much has I pumped so I can figure out gas mileage. Never needed one again to prove anything. Maybe if I was returning a rental car, I would keep the receipt to show them I just filled it, even then, never needed one.

Always keep your ATM receipts at least until the statement comes. Then file them or shred them.

I've been debited the incorrect amount a couple of times and producing the receipt, while probably not sufficient evidence for a court, was enough to trigger an investigation at my bank which led to me being credited for the difference each time.

foolish folk use ATM's at gas stations or strip joints, fees are ridiculous

45 cents is rediculous? That's what AM/PM charges here in Seattle. Of course, I pay with cash.

Indeed, I was asking about the receipts from the gas pump. I have told to by our CU to not leave without because 1) record-keeping purpose; 2) ID thievery.

As for using the ATM for non gas purchases I rarely if ever do (interesting fact: rarely do cashiers mention the fee!). However, if I get cash from the ATM dispenser, there is no fee due to the CO-OP network among CUs.

ADDENDUM: Do drive-through charge a fee for using an ATM card?

not any more. Seen the price for 2.5 tons of prime scrap detroit iron? You can make 5 Hyundais out of an Electra 225.
