Breaking in Ear Buds? New one to me. - samintx - 01-17-2010

Some instructions I read, most I don't have to and ear buds fall into that category. However, I just got a good deal on some ear buds in a nice zipper case good for travel. There was an extra cable that was about 12" long I couldn't figure out "what for?"

So...naturally I turned to the instructions. I read "to break in the ear buds (Maximo) tune to Med high for several hours" or something like that.

I have never broken in ear phones OR ear buds. Have I been missing something?

all speakers/earphones cones are very stiff when first manufactured, they need a break in period to loosen up to achieve their full dynamic range.
so what was the extra cable for?
my guess, extension

Did they come with a little vial of starter ear-wax? You might need to check the box again.
