your favorite "abandoned city" movie? - lazydays - 04-03-2010

I love movies with abandoned buildings and cities. Kind of matches up with my fascination with end of the world movies. Love ones where nobody or very few people are left in abandoned places. I love this game, name your favorite!

Btw, I'm currently watching Day of the Dead. I have no idea what it is about as I'm only about 5 minutes into it.

Logan's Run (1976) comes to mind. Haven't seen it in quite awhile. You might also like Omega Man (1971) with Charlton Heston.

This one or any of the other two films from the trilogy will blow one away!

Actually, we had a ghost town when I was a kid--it was an abandoned mining patch on the far side of the river that we drove through after taking the ferry across. It was old frame buildings that looked ancient back in the early '60's.

Years later, I went back hoping to get some pictures, but by then, the woods had taken back over. Sometimes it comes back to me in dreams, but there's very little info on it except for things I heard from older folks when I was growing up.

None of those films can hold a candle to "The Quiet Earth", an interesting little New Zealand film.
