I skip the step on cutting the sandwich in half. I just go straight to eating the sandwich after putting the sandwich together.
I also have a different technique for putting the jelly on the bread. Instead of using a new knife for the jelly, or wiping the peanut butter off the first knife, I employ a spoon to get the jelly from the jar to the bread.

'poo, that's not right. You MUST have peanut butter on both slices of bread and then add the Jelly on both slices of bread. TheN, and ONLY then, can you mate the two slices! ! ! ! !

When I went to college, I dated a girl in RHI (Restaurant, Hotel, Institutional Management). I was leafing through her book.
One page showed a series of photos on how to spread (butter, peanut butter, etc.) on a slice of bread. Basically ... over, down, back over the other direction.
Not the internet, where anything can be posted, but a real frikken college 4 year degree program's book!!!
To this day, that is the most astonishing thing I saw at college. Could not believe it.

Knife ?
What an interesting concept.
A finger is easier to clean, there are numerous orifices to choose from before re-dipping that tool into the jelly.
