Memory usage - blooz - 04-08-2010

I noticed a little while ago that things were getting slow, and i didn't have that many apps active.
I looked at Activity Monitor and it showed that Firefox was using a little over 200 MBs of memory. I had three tabs open. It actually was using up more memory than Photoshop. Both applications were active but not actually in use. I was writing in another application.
Is it normal for firefox to be using up that much memory? I turned it off and started it up again and just on opening it was up to 64 MBs. Now I have three tabs open as I type this and its using 102 MBs.

Sounds about right.

browsers suck up ram like crazy

I have camino open with one tab, Hulu, and its using 225

You want something that doesnt use hardly anything? Try Sunrise. Its only 16 at idle.

or Chrome. Chrome has 3 windows, 10 tabs, 5 tabs and 27 tabs. 125 megs...

Firefox mismanages memory. Plug-ins can contribute to the problem.

Google "firefox memory mac" (no quotes).
