wouldn't it be great if, in this last season, they make us realize that Bauer is a dangerous psycho that in the end, will be - MUST BE offed by the gov't.
pretty weak season thus far, but I liked this ending too.

Reportedly - the 'next installment' will be a movie... so be surprised if they'd end the tv series with JB's termination. And be very annoyed if they turn the hero into anything less than... so far - I'd say his actions are justified even if pushing the line. She had her chance to walk away and instead tried to flee and killed more innocents before Jack finished her.

Who else is disturbed by Jack "offing" the despicable Dana Walsh?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall Jack ever offing anyone who didn't stand in the way of he and his objective. Isn't his big rationale for not following the president's orders that there is a wrong that needs to be righted regardless of whether the "greater good" suffers? Yet, his vigilante-like execution of Dana seems to sacrifice justice and right in favor of expediency (too much of a hassle to turn her over to authorities, besides, she deserved to die, and it felt good!). So, now that Jack is judge, jury and executioner. It's hard for me to reconcile the contradiction.
But if the writers are willing to turn JB into a psycho-vigilante-revenge-seeking-douchebag, then so be it. All I can say is that I'm glad it's coming to an end.

I certainly get your point, but the writers make it stoopid-easy to forget he's been away for like two days and just lost Rene a few hours ago.
I thought there was some magnificent acting from Katie though.

He's "died" in seasons 2 and 4.

I think the idea is that JB has finally reached his breaking point, and now is out for revenge, an even looser cannon.
(Didn't they do something similar with the James Bond character in "Casino Royale?" Good character development in that movie, and hat's off to Daniel Craig. But in the end the movie boiled down to a fight over a bag of money. Yawn.)
