MIgrating Apple Mail - graylocks - 05-05-2010 i have begun the process of moving my main activity from my G4 Mini to my iMac 21.5. i have run Migration Assistant. first up is getting Mail up to speed. how do i get my former Mail mail and rules into the iMac mail? i was hoping MA would do that automagically but apparently not. also, i had my iTunes Library on an external hard drive. how do i get that into the iMac iTunes now that i have gobs of storage and no longer need to keep the library elsewhere? Re: MIgrating Apple Mail - JEBB - 05-05-2010 I used MA to move my files and apps from a G4 PB with 10.4.11 to a MacBook with 10.6.2 without major problems. I had no problems with mail. The only things I did ahead was run Cocktail and repaired permissions. There were some programs that didn't work with10.6. Re: MIgrating Apple Mail - DewGuy - 05-06-2010 For your iTunes library, (I assume you haven't used iTunes on the iMac) I believe you can copy your iTunes library in its entirety from the external to Music/iTunes in your user directory and once you start iTunes everything will be good to go. Probably should Repair Permissions before starting iTunes just to be safe.
