earliest version of Photoshop that natively opens .CR2? - clay - 04-20-2006 I know that CS2 will open CR2's easily, but don't have access to any earlier versions of PS to know if it will work this easily on older versions. Does CS handle them well? I know PS 7 doesn't. thanks Re: earliest version of Photoshop that natively opens .CR2? - DaviDC. - 04-20-2006 If PS 7 doesn't, I'd be willing to bet that none of the earlier versions will either. Re: earliest version of Photoshop that natively opens .CR2? - clay - 04-20-2006 OK, does anyone know about CS, since I believe that was the only version between 7 and CS2? Re: earliest version of Photoshop that natively opens .CR2? - papercup - 04-20-2006 You mean a .psd file format? Or tiff? If you have "maximize compatibility" checked in the CS2 prefs, you have a good chance even PS 5 will open it (to some extent). Odd type treatments or layer styles prior to CS2 may be discarded, obviously. Re: earliest version of Photoshop that natively opens .CR2? - clay - 04-20-2006 Nope, I'm talking about a Canon Camera RAW format, .CR2. You used to need a separate program to save the RAW image as a TIFF or whatever, then you could open the resulting TIFF in photoshop. So...I'm looking for someone that knows if CS will open a .CR2, or if that version of PS still needs a 3rd party program to open RAW images to convert into something photoshop can actually use. Thanks Re: earliest version of Photoshop that natively opens .CR2? - papercup - 04-20-2006 My bad, I read Photoshop CR2 as CS2. I am unsure. Re: earliest version of Photoshop that natively opens .CR2? - Mr645 - 04-21-2006 you can download a free RAW to DNG converter from Adobe. This will convert the latest CR2 files into DNG files, which then can be opened as RAW files in CS Re: earliest version of Photoshop that natively opens .CR2? - sam ward - 04-21-2006 Careful about the version number. I think you need v2.4 for CS. |
