Anyone else find those TAG and AXE body spray commercials funny as heck? - Paul F. - 04-21-2006

The TAG body spray commercials with the guys getting jumped by women in most improbable manners...
And the AXE body washs "Scrub away the shame" with the "order of the serpentine"....

They're just FUNNY...

I found myself laughing at one the other night in spite of myself.

I am not sure whether they are just blatantly pandering, being ironic or or making a post-ironic commentary on irony, ironically.

The way they're written, they can't POSSIBLY be written expecting people to take them seriously...
But I have to say, if I used male oderizing products, guess who's names I'd recognise on the shelf?

I'd love to work on that ad campaign. Big budgets, irreverent writing & babes. The 80's all over again.

First rule of advertising is know your audience. Who do you think Axe is targeted towards? Middle-aged dads like myself or hip young urbanites (or wannabees)?

My favorite is the one where the girl is dressing, pulling up some ultra-tight jeans, over a bum that you can bounce a quarter off, her very hot Mom answers the door and lets in daughters date, top button pops on her tight shirt revealing a nice set of plastique sweater puppies, she says, OOPS!

The message of these commercials seems to be: "If you use our products, women will throw themselves at you."

Of course, what they neglect to mention is that being a young, handsome male model doesn't hurt. ;-)

Would that it be the case that women's sexuality was the same as men's (or the converse), then we might all enjoy ourselves a little more...

Old ad line, some are even direct rip-offs of the old 1960's/1970's Hai Karate ads.

I always think those Tag commercials look like those guys stink and are spraying Febreeze all over themeselves.
