Just experienced Tastykakes

My father grew up with sisters who were the most amazing bakers. At school he used to trade a slice of homemade cake or pie for a Tastykake. They weren't considered necessary in his home and he was always Jonesing for a Tastykake. Smile

Tastykakes are even available here in Florida now.

I grew up on krimpets, coffeekakes and lemon pies. The Philly company was sold out, what, 2-3 years ago to a large conglomerate. IMHO, today's Tastykakes are just not the same as they used to be in either taste or quality.

I grew up in Pennsylvania and remember Tastykakes fairly well. I don't know if something changed over the past few years, but last time I visited and had Butterscotch Krimpets, they weren't the same and didn't taste nearly as good as I remember. I guess either the recipe changed or my tastes changed. Smile
