Disk Utility Disk Keeps Ejecting
#1
Hi,

My dad is trying to boot to the system disk that came with his 20" Intel iMac so that he can run disk utility. He says that every time he tries (holding down the "C" key and starting up), the disk is ejected and the iMac just boots to the Finder.

He tried inserting the disk once the computer was booted and then double clicking on the O.S. Install icon to see what would happen, and he says that the computer restarted but ejected the disk again.

Any thoughts?

Insert disk. Shut down. Restart, immediatly after chime, hold down option key. He then will be able to choose the disk to start up from.

That should do it.

Insert disk, go to system prefs and select the install disk as the startup disk, restart the computer.
