First sandhill cranes of the year calling this morning; must be spring!

Sandhill cranes means that it's fall in the central valley of California.

There’s a resident population here, and also a migration stopover. We get big flocks coming through in the fall too.

"Rib-eye On The Fly". One reason they were almost rendered extinct...

Although I haven't seen any yet this Spring, they are becoming fairly common in the Lower Peninsula again. Numbers are increasing.
