Excellent graphics performance on M1 Pro MacBook Pro
#1
The graphics on M1 Pro/Max are excellent. To see how the graphics compared to a gaming PC laptop, I ran the Heaven Benchmark on a MacBook Pro at a resolution of 1920x1080, high graphics and got an average of 99 FPS. Heaven is running thru Rosetta2 emulation.

By comparison, my 4 year old gaming laptop with a 7th generation Intel quad core i5 and a dedicated Nvidia GTX 1050Ti 4 GB achieved 72FPS on average.

The Heaven benchmark is a free download https://benchmark.unigine.com/heaven

Here’s hoping more game developers release a Mac version.

The VALLEY benchmark is the other (larger) benchmark with a Mac version.

In my testing, Valley benchmarks at about 10% lower FPS than the Heaven benchmark on a PC.

I ran the Heaven benchmark on my 1st generation with Intel i3 laptop and got a slideshow of 1.8 FPS - that's not a typo!

Was the gaming laptop on battery or plugged in? If on battery, how long would it be able to keep that performance before the battery dies.

The gaming laptop was plugged in, as it always is. PC gaming laptops aren’t really designed to be played unplugged, because the CPU and GPU consume lots on energy while gaming. I tried it once when the laptop was new and I think I killed the battery in 2 hours.

The MacBook Pro was unplugged during testing. It barely gets warm warm while game playing.
