Karma and Reputation are gimmicks to increase memberships.

From the same bag of bricks that all the various awards come from.

Such stuff appeals to the lowest common denominator of poster.

But hey, it's more members, for whatever may be gleaned.

I've been informed that I have reached my reputation point limit for the day. Maybe only repeat negative ratings for an individual poster counts…

Not quite sure what your last sentence means, but I used mine up giving 3-4 positives.
