How to Burn/Backup Folders of Pictures from iPhoto to CD or DVD?
#1
In trying to help clean up, and give my startup disk some more room, I need to remove some of the pictures that are stored on my boot drive.

Is there a way to export them, and know much you are exporting to fill up a CD or DVD?

Thanks.

OK, I did an export of an ALBUM to another drive inside the Mac.

I suppose I could do that with each ALBUM, and export them as the same size, and file attributes, and then burn them to CD or DVD, and DELETE Album from iPhoto.

IPhoto 08 Menu Bar at top>Share>Burn--it will prompt you as it burns each disc....CD or DVD

I think Burn was an option in 06--just in a different menu location

Is there anyway to know how much too choose to burn? I dont want to waste space and only burn a half full DVD or CD. When I hit burn, it says to put in a disk. Not sure if the next step is too just start and burn...

Also, how do I delete from iPhoto the photos that are in that album. I can delete the album, but that doesn't remove the images from the library.

And I think what I want to do is to Create a CD or DVD to be viewed in Windows or by a phot procesiing company.

1. Select albms I want to share
2. Choose File Export
3. Click the file export button
4. Choose desired options, mine remain file the same
5. Click Export
6. Choose Location
7. Quit Ipohot
8. Put in a CDRW or CDR or DVDR disk in drive
9. Drag folder that contains exported photos onto disc icon
10 When files have copied choose File Burn Disc

I found this under HELP, and think this would be an option I would want. But still not sure how to delete the album (and all its pictures) after successful backup to DVD.

found these 3 tips on macosx hints site:

PASTE: delete photos from inside an album while also removing them from the library by selecting them and using "option + delete"

PASTE: If you want to remove a photo from a specific album and from the entire library at the same time, all you have to to is:

1. Select the photo
2. Hold down Command and Option, then press Delete.

This also works in iTunes, as discussed in the comments to this iTunes hint. Just make sure you really want the photo to be removed, as once you use this tip, the photo is gone for good.

PASTE: The Keyboard Shortcuts option under the Help menu lists this and many other useful keystrokes.

Will give them a try
