Piece of MacBook case broke off????
#1
I hadn't noticed a problem before, but when I lifted the lid tonight, a sliver of the case on the right front edge was broken off and laying on the palm rest. On inspection it is right in the area where the upper case bumper makes contact with the lower case. Of course it's only cosmetic at this point, but I have run my wrist across it a couple of times while typing.

I do have AppleCare and have had a problem with the flashing or pulsing backlight I've heard some reporting when waking from sleep. I've been thinking about sending it in for that. Is the case problem that just cropped up covered under AppleCare also? I certainly don't abuse my stuff, so I'm surprised at the chipped area. A defect or design problem?

Essentially it's a design defect. This is VERY common. I'm considering asking Apple to replace my wife's Macbook top, despite it being 2 yrs old and no having Applecare (yeah, I forgot. dumb !) :banghead:

Common on the first two generations. Apple is typically happy to -quietly- fix the problem.

My best friend and son both have that exact "feature" on their MacBooks.

Oh yeah, my Macbook has pieces missing on both the screen edge and the keyboard edge.

Common problem, FREE fix from Apple even if you don't have warranty.

Just got a case number and Apple is sending me a shipping box to hopefully fix both problems. Nice.
