Skype "windows has been infected" warning???
#1
A couple times today I have gotten this pop-up window presumably from Skype.

The link sends me to this:

Has anyone else gotten this? Is it legit? And why me?

I have an email into skype about this but I figured i'd ask here.

edit: I have NOT downloaded anything of course. Skype just sent a form email saying they'd answer me within 12 hours.

Egggactly blooz I do not own a PC either... so it is funny to receive that message.
They may be selling some software/condoms for the usual PC liabilities

They are probably trying to infect your PC with some malware. All you have to do is click on the button and another drive-by infection of your PC. Oh wait, you have a Mac not a PC. They will then send bad thoughts your way as it is their only weapon against Mac users like you.

clicking "erase all threats" takes you to this site:

Repair Registry 2008 @ $19.95 is in your cart!

Those compromised sites try to download and install a Trojan(on PC of course) that constantly says you have virus/malware etc... It redirects you to their site to purchase their virus removal software. Many PC techs get paid good money to remove these programs.

This is one reason my uncle who works for Apple, loves getting paid to "fix Windows PCs".

Got an email back from skype also saying it was spam. I just had to change some privacy settings.
