if i leave my ciscovpn running, my machine will fail to wake from sleep.

is it possible to use another vpn client? i need to use IPSec/UDP with group authentication.

You are using the latest version, yes? A lot of times, a reinstall of the Cisco VPN will fix 'weirdness' issues like that and connectivity issues.
