Stupid Question™ - Is there a keyboard shortcut for "Load Images" in Mail?
#1
I leave "Display remove images in HTML messages" off in Mail (spam and all that), but I get a lot of legit mail with images too (newsletters, etc.). Until Apple adds a "Always load images from senders who are in my Contacts", is there a keyboard shortcut to load images, or is the only option to click the "load images" button?

I leave "Display remote images in HTML messages" on; even with that checked, Mail doesn't show the images if the message is flagged as junk mail.

Yeah, but that kind of misses the point. If the mail is not yet recognized as junk mail, then it loads the images and the address is flagged as live/good when the remote image is loaded.

Using Mail in 10.6.8

there isn't even a menu command for loading images - just the button, so I guess that means that you can't even modify the keyboard commands in system prefs.

I don't know of a keyboard method, but the same result can be accomplished via rules. Leave "display remote images..." enabled, but mark all incoming mail—with the exception of whitelisted parties— as junk.

Here's an AppleScript that loads images for the frontmost window in Mail.app. Use FastScripts or another utility to give it a keyboard shortcut.

Add a Keyboard Shortcut to Mail’s Load Images Button
