I'm still laughing... John Oliver is back!

I usually enjoy his show, but not the one last night.

In the past, he has used wit to skewer sacred cows, but I hate to say he has now just become crude.

Years ago there was a trend among comedians to use profanity to get laughs. In the '50s and '60s the shock value seemed to draw laughs. Nowadays, profanity is so ubiquitous that it no longer has the same effect.

Going back to the '60s, comedians like Nichols and May, set the bar a lot higher with their intelligence. At first, I felt that John Oliver was going to be of that "genre." Now, not so much.
