Recap, my mortgage company added a notation to my credit file that I was affected by a natural disaster. My credit score also dropped 71 points with no other changes to my report.

2 weeks later and the notation is still there but my score jumped up 73 points

Same thing happened to us after Katrina. Took years for things to level out properly.

Well, if you bought an entire country (mortgage company added a nation)......

The credit scores are kind of Mickey Mouse anyway. Mine was claiming my score was held down (in the low 800's) because I hadn't been exercising my credit and I had too few accounts open. Didn't care, but I decided to check where my score was after financing a new RV and getting a new credit card. It had dropped. Bought a new car with cash, no change in my Credit Score. Be interesting to see what happens when I make that final RV payment next month.
