domain registration question
#1
suppose large corporation ABC International has subsidiaries throughout the world. They have a domain called ABC.com for the US website (the headquarters are in Europe that that is the main website).

Now suppose they might sell/spin their NJ factory at point. the location is known by ABC Noodles (just a made up name), but no one has registered the ABC-Noodles.com or ANCnoodles.com

Say I were to register those domains and keep them indefinitely. When they decide to sell or spin off this division, can I keep those domains or can they force me to give them up?

Thanks

They can probably take them from you, if you’re just squatting and they have a relevant trademark.

Yup, even if you have a legitimate reason for having the domain, they can make your life very difficult.

Ever wonder why Nissan (the car company) doesn't own nissan.com? Read to find out and what it cost the owner to keep it.

oh yeah, I remember nissan.com story.

But that is so unfair. Nissan computer started their business and registered the domain in good faith. They did not squat it.

I think you should change your name to ABC Noodles just to be safe.

And if you can come up with a pic of your successful noodlestand circa 1979, all the better.
