Bezos is no Katherine Graham

I just watched the documentary "Becoming Katherine Graham" on Amazon Prime. I'm rather surprised the Bezo's allowed it on his streaming service. The profile says as much about today's weakness and bias in the paper's ownership as it does about the courage and strength of the former publisher.

It is also scary to see the parallels between Nixon's administration's efforts to destroy the Post and Trump's obsession with punishing any media outlet that doesn't toe his line.

I highly recommend the 90-minute program as time well spent.

I saw that. Our democratic experiment would have ended in the 70's with people like Bezos at the helm of the 4th Estate. As much as NYT has angered me, they're standing up stronger (in the aftermath of the election) than the Bezos and the L.A. Time's owner Patrick Soon-Shiong. Not that long ago, he was a cool guy. Something happened to these men. Willing to battle George W. Bush but overrun by Trump.

But George W. Bush was no Donald Trump. Donald Trump is marinated in the secret sauce of dictators that paralyzes men who once thought they were brave.

We would have profited so much by having more women in positions of power in journalism, politics, and pretty much everywhere. Our misogyny shoots us in the foot every day.
