Pixel/Zoom, Comparing Apples to Apples Question
#1
Daughter has new Canon A630 which is 4X optical zoom and 8MB
Me: Canon S2 IS 12X optical at 5MB

Taking her greater number of pixels in to account, what's the calc I need to make to compare her zoom to mine.

In other words, since she has more pixels to play with, how much digital zoom can she use until she reaches 5MB resolution on her 8MB camera.

At that point it seems we can have a fair zoom comparison between the two cameras.

(Do I sound competitive, yes a little, but I'm also interested in figuring this out. And of course, my S2 IS has image stabilization so I trump her all around -- but there are indeed some nice features on that A630 at quite a reasonable price.)

Thanks,

Sam*

for me, her 630 trumps your S2 IS everyday of the week and 2wice on sunday -- cause its 1/3 the size...

How is zoom going to affect resolution?
