Photoshop Gurus - please recommend a resource book
#1
I just upgraded to CS4 Ex, a couple jumps up from CS which could not handle RAW pics from my newest Canon. So now I'm inspired to try and get beyond my rudimentary skill set with PS and thought I might get a book or some other resource to help me with the higher functions. I'm really interested in trying HDR. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I shoot a lot of birds and other wildlife, landscapes, occasionally some portraits. Thanks.

Check for a more recent edition, this is basic...

http://www.amazon.com/Photoshop-Windows-..._1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228811127&sr=1-1

This is more visual and advanced...

http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Photoshop-CS..._1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228811489&sr=1-1

But your best resource is the web...

Just GOOGLE "Photoshop Tutorials" or other similar stuff, there are a lot of help and guides out there!

No book needed!!!

Deke is great and, if he puts out a book on CS4 (He has one on CS3), I'd say David Blatner is just about as good. And you could do worse that joining National Association of Photoshop Professionals to get the subscription to PhotoshopUser that comes with it. It has started to veer a little heavily towards the photography aspect and less towards the graphic design side over the last year or so (unfortunately, I'd say). If you have a major chain bookstore nearby, you can probably find it on the newsstand if you want to give it a try. Deke has a column in there.
