Jackson threw himself under the bus, and had to know he would not likely become senator over it. I don't think he would have done that willingly.


The whole Chicago political mess is very fishy. I cannot believe that Obama got where he did, without being involved in it, more than he is letting on.

Obama was elected, not appointed, to his senate seat.
Do you know the story of his run? It's rather spectacular, involving scandal on the republican side, sealed records, Jeri Ryan (seven of nine from Star Trek Voyager), and the ever fascinating (in a deer-in-the-headlights way) Alan Keyes.
His time in the Illinois senate was spent under a republican governor.
Again, he was elected, not appointed.

Maybe I don't quite understand the "got where he did" comment.
Can you elaborate?
