Hi,
I've had an android phone for the past couple of years (first MyTouch 3G and now Samsung Vibrant).
Here's my question: why do so many apps "open" on their own when there is no apparent reason for them to do so? That is, if you use an application killer like Advanced Task Killer (or any similar one) and open it from time to time, I'll see along list of "open" apps, the majority of which I didn't use recently. Moreover, if I "kill" those apps and wait half an hour (or less) and then check again, I'll see many of the same apps open again (and using system memory).
I've found conflicting information on whether one should go ahead and kill those apps or not...some sources saying that it actually eats your battery to kill those apps when they are going to just open up again vs other sources saying that having all those apps open definitely eats up your system memory and slows the phone down.
I've definitely noticed a slow down in the phone (subjectively by the speed of scrolling through a drawer full of apps) and it obviously uses memory to have those apps open, so I've been "killing" them from time to time.
Anyway, just wondering why these apps open themselves up in the first place, if there's a way to prevent this and, if not, whether I should be killing them or not.
Thanks.
