Pasadena and Arcadia, nearby cities to our town, we always find many peacocks wandering about folk's front yards. The deers stay near the foothill areas. And so do the coyotes, mountain lions and bears.
Right outside my office window!

"You rub my velvet, and I'll rub yours."
They'll travel power lines, streams and other trails into urban areas for acorns this time of year. Males are often on their own in the Fall and will spar with another male that is ignoring it's tree rubs.

Once while backpacking, I stumbled into a large group of big horn sheep. THey bolted as soon as they saw me. Late that night, asleep in my tent, I hear the sound of two big guys swinging wooded baseball bats that connect like swords. I realized, the sheep are fighting - I GOTTA get up and see this... Big full moon... WAY up high in Sequoia NP... what a sight this would be...
It was really cold. Had to get out of my sleeping bag, put on some heavy clothes and boots... 'in a minute or two..." and I fell back asleep. I was so upset when I woke up in the morning. How often does one get a chance to see something like that?
