Just bought a house whose garage has a genie intellicode hc2000 in which the original owner lost the remote. Called home depot and they don't sell replacememts. any thought on where to get one? I could call Genie, but I bet they charge a bunch.

Sears has a pretty good selection.
If you can't find the proper remote--they make new remotes and recievers that wire to the same place the manual switch connects. This makes it so you don't have to replace the whole unit-also at Sears.

we have a Genie Promax 500 something or other. Pre 2002 (but not too old) We do have an existing remote.
I'll check out Lowe's and HD. I have a Lowe's GC from my birthday last fall, but I'd rather use that for a manly tool or BBQ toy.

I just got off the phone with Genie and they say to check Lowes (they have it here) and Ace hardware. they also mentioned Home depot, but mine didn't carry it. you should find what you want at one of those places. Last resort, ordering from genie wasn't that much more expensive, so you could go that route in a pinch.

To replace the original remote of my friend's garage's 2 year old Genie Pro I bought a Genie InteliCode remote from Home Depot. It's been working fine.

Need help reprogramming your genie intellicode garage door opener remotes?
* 1. I purchased an additional Remote Control:
* If you have simply purchased an additional remote control and wish to program it and not delete any other device:
* press and release the learn code button on the receiver.
* While the red LED is blinking, press your transmitter button 3 times.
* This will lock in a new code and you will be able to use your remote control normally.
* Repeat this process for each additional remote you have.
* 2. My Remote Control was lost, stolen, or needs to be reset:
If your remote control has been lost or stolen, a person will have unabated access to your garage. You should erase all existing remote controls out of your receiver.
* STEP 1: To erase all controls:
Press and hold the learn code button until the red LED stops blinking. This process will take approximately 10 seconds. This will render all remote controls and your optional external wireless keypad inoperative.
* STEP 2: To reprogram your new and/or existing remote controls:
Press and release the learn code button on the receiver, while the red LED is blinking, press your transmitter button 3 times. This will lock in a new code and you will be able to use your remote controls normally. Repeat this process for each additional remote control you have.
To reprogram your existing Intellicode Wireless Keypad. Press and release the learn code button on the receiver, while the red LED is blinking, open the cover on your wireless keypad, press the same personal pin number that you originally programmed and press the SEND button 3 times. This will allow you to use your keypad normally.
Found this info online today for my aunt. Her garage remote is lost/misplaced.
