Nearly Pristine LEADER!
I know all you longtime Mac users probably can't understand how thrilled we are over the simple things... Not true. Many of us still get totally jazzed over some basic stuff. And just so you know, I just got a vicarious thrill reading your post. I really like Macs, and the OSs they carry. Just very recently I was thinking about how Stevie's rare blend of style and substance have turned out some machines that make us smile ear-to-ear. And very rarely do I see a PC user who thinks of his or her gear as anything more than a utensil. Despite what some here and elsewhere may say, it's more than the Kool-Aid dust in the packing that makes us giddy with a new Mac. Congratulations to your daughter!

How much ram is in there? If its the base 512, then you should definitely max it out. Its cheap and it'll make that baby scream!
Congrats and enjoy! Stavs

It does only have the 512 - is it easy to add?

Yeah...its a piece of cake. Essentially the keyboard pops off and you remove a cover and add it in. The manual details how to do it. Well worth it IMO.

GENTLY-USED LEADER!!!!!!!
You can buy Applecare anytime within the next 9 months. I agree with others here that Applecare on a laptop is a wise purchase, though for the next nine months the only thing that Applecare adds is no-cost phone tech support.

leader!
and not to poo-poo your purchase, but for $200 more you coulda got a new macBook...

Actually, with tax and everything, it would have been $350 more. Since she is a recently graduated HS senior, this is really all she needed. It did include a spare battery, case and iSight camera (which I realize she would have had built into the Mac, but it's not something she'll use much and she may be able to sell it).
We seriously considered the MacBook, but, for her, the savings were worth it. |
