I usually buy the OWC Mercury Elite Firewire drives and have been very happy with them. What is the difference between the Elite and the Elite Aluminum? Is it just the style of the case?
Also in the Aluminum Firewire 800/400 version why is the 320GB drive ten dollars cheaper than the 300GB drive? Why would someone buy 300GB for a higher price? Am I missing something?

The 320 is cheaper than the 300 because of the drive inside. OWC gets a better cost on the 320GB than whatever the 300GB is.
The 320GB is almost certainly a Western Digital and costs less than most 300GB drives. I prefer Seagate drives, longest warantee, and have been reliable for me.

I prefer Seagate as well. The specs don't actually tell you what's inside though.
And I'm still wondering about the difference between the elite and the elite aluminum.

Go to "Operating Environment:" (near the bottom of the OWC drive spec sheet).
Last item--"Standard mechanisms:"

Thanks. I missed that. It's useful to know which drive is in there.
Again though what's the difference between the elite and the aluminum, just the style to match the G5 tower?
