What was your first Mac?
#71

My mom bought us a Mac when they first came out. I woulda been twelve at the time.

Bless my parents. We weren't well off -- it was a major purchase, more than they'd spend on a car. But my mom knew getting us kids computer-savvy would be a worthy investment.

In 1993 I purchased and used my first Mac, a Performa 600CD w/14" Performa Display, used it until we got a Rev. B Bondi Blue iMac in 1998, followed by a 17" G4 iMac in 2003 and in June of this year my early-2011 13" MacBook Pro (typing on it now).

A new 6200CD package from Computer City, included the CPU, Monitor, KB and Mouse, I think it was
somewhere around $2500. Both our sons were in Elementary school and figured it was time to get a
computer for them to use at home. Then the iMacDv slot loader, came with the Bugs Life DVD. Then the
first Gen. eMac, then several used Macs, a G4 533mhz Dual, couple of a Cubes, then a Mini and now a 27"
i5 Quad as far as desktops.

Classic II

Then an LC 475, then a 7200, then a 7600...

The 7600 was a great Mac. I had it for 6+ years before getting a MDD 867.

Then a 24" iMac, and currently a 27" iMac

Does not include a parallel laptop universe.

512Ke, and I went overboard with a 10MB internal hard drive. Used it for years until I bought Mac SE.

That's right down the street from where I work, Mike.

Great! Next time I'm picking a $50 box of floppies, I'll drop in and say hi!

Apple 2GS with a whopping 1MB of extended RAM (someone "convinced" my mother that we needed it)! It's a real shame they never fully developed this system, it was pretty impressive for its time...

First real Mac was a PPC 7100/66, way overkill for what we needed but it was a cool toy (for $5000 bux). Also I tried overclocking it to 80mhz and it didn't work, and had "softwindows" which just plain sucked...
