Why is Buddy Roemer not in the Republican debates?
#1
He's trying to run for president. He's the former governor of Louisiana, has two degrees from Harvard, doesn't look like a freak, isn't a huge crook (officially, anyway), is a Methodist, is not a Mormon, hasn't proposed anything as nutty as 9-9-9, can probably name a magazine he reads, etc. Come on.

Edit: I know the official reason about not getting over a threshold in polls, but he's a better and less embarrassing candidate than over half of the clowns in the Clown Car.

Have to track a minimum per centage in polls preceding.
Was 4% in september, 2% Now (I think, maybe 1 % )
You want everyone who files a statement of candidacy with the FEC on stage ?

That would probably be entertaining enough for me want to to tune in.

I saw about 6-7 minutes of the debate.

Michele Bachmann going on about cake or something at the end. Some pretty undignified performances by the men, except Cain kept his cool while they hammered him about his 9-9-9 thing, but he kept going on about apples and oranges and the others were pretty condescending towards him - at least that was my impression. Sounded like only Romney had done his homework and got the math. The others sounded like they forgot to study for the test.

Anybody watch that thing in full?
Impressions? I thought none of them came across well in the few minutes I saw.

He's not in because he's guilty of an inexcusable offense, an offense no Presidential candidate from either party is allowed to commit; he failed to raise money.

This rule doesn't apply to self-financed candidates like Romney and Cain or candidates in it just to make a buck -read Gingritch and now Bachmann. If they can get people to give them money that donors know will end up in the candidates personal account, why can't Buddy come up with some semi-serious bucks.

Makes him a not serious candidate in the eyes of those who trade money for influence.

PS: How Buddy gets the word out

Oh, I forgot: one of Roemer's big points is not accepting money from special interests and getting money out of politics. Makes perfect sense, now. Let the clown-fest continue.

I thought that Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich actually performed the best. They at least appeared to be thinking about the questions before just looking to shoehorn in a soundbite.

I suspect at this point neither Paul nor Gingrich really believe that they are serious contenders, so they feel more free to give non soundbite-y answers to questions.

Santorum can't believe that he is a viable candidate...but Mr. Frothy is also batshit crazy.
