Has anyone tried generic ink in an Epson Artisan printer?
#1
I went to buy ink for ours at Staples, had my 15% coupon in hand and had $6 or $9 built up in Rewards
and was going buy a set of color carts and few other things and the the guy said you have to have your
Staples Reward card, we didn't have, we've always just gave them our phone number and they looked it
up another guy conferred with that yes we had to have the Card. I told them to keep everything, this
was close to $100 purchase before my discount, so much for shop local.

Anyway anyone with experience with generic carts and an Artisan printer. I know Epson puts a special
Caria ink in their Artisan carts and it will print a picture perfect 4x6" in under 10 seconds and it's dry
when comes out. I knew ink was high when we bought it, I wanted another WorkForce, wife wanted
something for better photo quality, we got the 835 for $120 after the trade-in of an old printer, $50 credit.

Generics: 2 sets of carts including Black $23.20

98 Colors more ink: Best Amazon price. $58 This set includes a Black one reviewer claims only the Black
high capacity 98. Epson color sets don't normally come with a Black Cart sounds fishy.

99 Color less ink: $52

I've gotten and had good success with generic ink for the Artisan 710 at Shop4tech. Much cheaper and works well.

I don't know if they've improved over time but in my dealings with generic inks I'd say buy the name brand. I've had a Stylus 1200, 1280, and 2200 and the photos never looked as good with generics. If all you're printing is 4x6's maybe it's no big deal, tho...

Weird how often prices change at Amazon, this morning this set was:

Epson T098920 98 High Capacity Color Ink Multi-Pack for Epson Artisan 700, 710, 725, 800, and 810 (Pack of 5) by Epson $69.42

If you click on it in the search it shows up priced at: $60.38 and with my Prime it'll be here Monday. I've got
all my Christmas to print out and don't want risk generic ink right now but I may very well try them on the
next set. Locally the best price I could find was $80.
